iPhone 17 Pro Second-Hand Price in India: What It Is Worth in 2026
The iPhone 17 Pro is no longer Apple’s latest Pro model. After the iPhone 18 Pro launched on 9 September 2026 and arrived in India on 18 September, the 17 Pro became last year’s model and its used price dropped.
That matters for your next steps, and it's different from what it did any year before. If you wantedted to sell before tnew he new launch, chances passed three weeks ago. If you're looking to buy, the price drop you wanted is here now: Rs. 1,34,900 for the 256GB, Rs. 1,54,900 for 512GB, and Rs. 1,74,900 for 1TB.
What the Market Actually Shows
Checked on 3 October 2026. These are live listings from another company, not our own quotes.
What that tells you: Here's what that means for value retention: a typical 256GB model, which launched at Rs. 1,34,900, now keeps about 57 to 68 percent of its value after a year. The 1TB version, launched at Rs. 1,74,900, holds about 50 to 57 percent of its value after a year. It is not the 75 to 85 percent you will see claimed elsewhere, and the gap between those two numbers is the difference between accepting a fair offer and turning it down.
Notice the 1TB sits. You'll see that the 1TB model often sells for less than the highest-priced 256GB listings. While higher storage costs more when new, it doesn't always keep that extra value when used, since fewer buyers want it. This trend appears with every iPhone we've checked. Prices range from Rs. 31,000 to Rs. 1,10,000 for units all graded "Good". That tells you the grade on a listing is a starting point, not a price. Condition, battery health, warranty, and what the seller is willing to accept all move it more than the label does.
We don’t publish our own buyback table because used prices change every month and drop after each new launch. This model just went through that. Use a live calculator for your phone, and compare it with current listings.
Most guides were written when this was the newest Pro model. Three weeks later, things have changed.
If you’re selling, the price drop has already happened. Waiting longer will only lower your return. The next big change is in September 2027, but prices will keep falling until then. Selling sooner is better.
If you’re buying, now is the time. A one-year-old Pro with warranty left, at a real discount instead of a small one, is a great deal. Our guide on how new launches affect old phone prices explains this pattern.
The India Version Is Not eSIM Only.
This is important to clarify, since it’s a common mistake.
Apple sells eSIM-only iPhone 17 and 17 Pro models in twelve markets: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Guam and the US Virgin Islands.
India is not on that list. The Indian iPhone 17 Pro comes with a physical SIM tray.
This is important if you’re buying used. Phones bought in the US or Gulf countries and brought to India will be eSIM only, so your carrier must support eSIM. Indian units use a physical SIM. Always check which type you’re being offered.
What Decides the Price
Remaining Apple warranty matters more for this phone than for older models. Phones bought at launch still have coverage until late 2026, and those with months left sell faster and for higher prices. Check the serial number on Apple’s site before buying or selling, and share what you find.
Battery health is key. For a one-year-old phone, anything much below the mid-nineties means it’s been heavily used. Check under Settings > Battery > Battery Health and Charging. If Apple or an authorised provider replaced the battery, it helps the price. A third-party replacement shows an "Unknown Part" warning in Settings, which lowers the value.
Check if the Apple ID has been removed. If not, the phone is iCloud locked, can’t be activated by anyone else, and loses almost all its value no matter the condition. Sign out and turn off Find My iPhone before selling. If the screen doesn’t work, remove the device at appleid.apple.com under Devices.
Physical condition matters. The Ceramic Shield 2 front and back make this model tougher than earlier Pros, but the aluminium frame gets marks more easily than the old titanium one. Check the corners and edges closely.
Having the box, cable, and invoice helps and speeds up verification. Most sellers of a phone this new still have them.
We haven’t listed rupee deductions for these factors. Deductions depend on the phone’s current value, so a fixed amount wouldn’t be accurate for everyone.
Is It Worth Buying Used Now?
Yes, and it’s an even better deal than it was a month ago.
The hardware: the A19 Pro with hardware ray tracing, a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED with an anti-reflective coating, a triple 48MP camera system, ProRes and Apple Log 2 for video, and Wi-Fi 7.
Software support is another plus: since it launched in September 2025, updates should continue into the early 2030s. That’s the longest support left for any used iPhone, and it’s a strong reason to pick this over an older Pro.
Here’s what to consider: a year ago, the used discount was so small that buying new was better. The iPhone 18 Pro launch changed that. Compare the current used price with the new 17 Pro price, including exchange and bank offers. If the difference is small, buy new for the full warranty and a fresh battery.
Before You Buy One
Check for activation lock first. The phone should reach the setup screen without asking for the previous owner’s Apple ID. If the seller won’t let you power it up and see this, it’s best to walk away.
Check the warranty status on Apple’s site using the serial number.
Check the battery health and find out if it has been replaced.
IMEI status on the government CEIR service, so you know it has not been reported lost or stolen.
Look for any Unknown Part warnings in Settings.
Check if it takes a physical SIM. This tells you if it’s an Indian unit or an import.
Test all three cameras, Face ID, speakers, and the charging port while you’re with the seller.
Follow these steps in order. The right sequence can make or break your sale.
1. Back up your data, and check the backup by signing in on another device.
2. Move your authenticator app to your new phone if you use one for login codes.
3. Sign out of your Apple ID. Settings, tap your name, tap Find My, switch off Find My iPhone, then tap Sign Out.
4. Remove the SIM and any eSIM profile. A factory reset does not always clear an eSIM.
5. Then erase the phone. Settings, General, Transfer or Reset iPhone, Erase All Content and Settings.
Reset before signing out, and Activation Lock ties the phone to your account. The next owner cannot set it up, and the pickup cannot be completed. It is the most common reason a sale fails at the door.
6. Find the box, cable, and invoice, take off the case and screen protector so the real condition is visible, and describe any faults honestly. An accurate description keeps the quote you were given the same as the money you are paid.
Getting the Best Price
Say how much warranty is left. On this phone, it is worth more than almost anything else you can mention.
State your battery health figure.
Do not repair cosmetic damage to sell. The repair usually costs more than it adds, and a non-genuine part can leave the phone worth less than it was with the damage. Declare it instead. A swelling battery is the exception and should be dealt with whatever you decide.
Get more than one quote. Check a buyback service against live listings for the same variant. Our comparison of where to sell a phone in India covers the options, including those that aren't us.
Do not wait. This year's launch is behind you, but ordinary depreciation hasn't stopped.
FAQs
1. What is the iPhone 17 Pro second-hand price in India?
Checked on 3 October 2026, most 256GB listings in good condition sat between Rs. 76,720 and Rs. 91,180, with a much wider spread. 1TB units listed around Rs. 86,020 to Rs. 99,999. The iPhone 18 Pro launched on 9 September 2026, so any figure published before mid-September is pre-drop pricing.
2. Has the iPhone 18 Pro launch affected the price?
Yes. It launched on 9 September 2026 and reached India on 18 September. The step-down has already happened, and the 17 Pro is now the previous-generation Pro rather than the current one.
3. How much of its value has it kept?
Based on live listings, a typical 256GB unit has held roughly 57 to 68 percent of its Rs. 1,34,900 launch price. Higher storage variants have held less, because the buyer pool is thinner.
4. Is the Indian iPhone 17 Pro eSIM only?
No. Apple sells eSIM-only models in twelve markets, including the US, Canada, Japan, and the Gulf states. India is not one of them, so Indian units have a physical SIM tray. A unit imported from one of those markets will be eSIM-only, so check before buying.
5. Does remaining warranty affect the price?
More than on any older iPhone. Launch-period units still have coverage running into late 2026, and a covered phone sells faster and for more. Check the serial number on Apple's site.
6. What battery health should a used one have?
On a one-year-old phone, expect the mid-nineties or better. Anything noticeably lower suggests heavy use and should be priced accordingly. Ask whether the battery has been replaced and by whom.
7. What happens if the Apple ID is still on the phone?
It is iCloud locked and cannot be activated by anyone else, so it loses nearly all its value, whatever its condition. Sign out and switch off Find My iPhone before selling.
8. When should I sell it?
Sooner rather than later. This year's launch step-down has already happened, and the next arrives in September 2027. Prices fall continuously in between.
9. Is it worth buying used rather than new?
More so now than a month ago, because the launch has widened the gap. Compare the used price against the current new price, including exchange and bank offers. If the gap is small, buy new for the full warranty and a fresh battery.
10. How long will it get iOS updates?
It launched in September 2025, so updates are expected to continue into the early 2030s. That is the longest remaining runway of any iPhone on the used market.
